General Work Skills Training A trained workforce is one of the most important resources that any organization can have. Workforce training is expensive and often doesn't achieve the results that are desired. When training is well designed and expanded, it can have a major impact on the competitive success of a business. CESD has developed a set of over 85 educational modules that focus on the development of basic skills that are needed in virtually every organization. The modules are designed to be used in a discovery-learning approach. In brief, this approach requires a minimum of lecturing. The teacher's responsibility is to help participants discover new concepts, practice using the concepts, and apply them on the job. This approach requires a different set of trainer skills typically needed in most training programs. Our train-the-trainer series provides the development of internal capacity for delivery of training modules. General
work skills training should be part of an overall employee development
process that is used in daily worklife. Without this on-the-job follow
through, the training will quickly evaporate. CESD has developed an extensive training assessment instrument that helps an organization target the best plan for investment of training funds. |
